Returning Home

So I know that I said that the previous post was going to be my last, but I figured I should tell you a little about being back in Denmark. So far, the best description I've come up with is weird.

It's weird seeing the changes downtown, it's weird sleeping in my own bed, being with my friends, sleeping 'til 9.00. Hearing people speak Danish all around me. Specially because I still think, dream, and read books in English, and I go places, walking around in my own little world, and then suddenly I'll hear a Danish word, and I'm like ''Cool, a Dane''. And then I realize, I'm in Denmark, and seeing another Dane is not really that cool.

So I'm still taking it slow, getting used to everything, catching up with all of my friends and family. Staying busy! Which I still need to. I've had a couple of slow days, and I miss Maine, I think about it. I check facebook one to many times, and see pictures and read about what's going on over there, which is probably not the smartest thing to do...

But I'm getting better day by day, I made a huge book with some of my photo's from the year, and I love it! I ordered some of my pictures and had them framed and, they're now decorating  my room. I hang my American flag up, and my closet is now empty for old Danish clothes, and filled with all of my new stuff. And since I fell out of my tiny bed a couple of times, I gave it to my sister, and got the guest room bed instead, which is bigger.
My wonderful friends had a surprise party for me, which was a LOT of fun! My family and a couple of friends came and got me in the airport, my family had a surprise brunch for me. It's been great.

I do still keep my toe-nails blue though, and I've been cheering for America in the Olympics. I listen to the same music as I did over there, and I'm reading a book in English. Keeping the American thing going. And I'm looking forward at going back. Getting closer and closer every day!

My Very Last Post

So...snif snif, I'm back in Denmark. After the most amazing year of my life. And it's strange.
Everything seems different, just driving around downtown, buildings are gone, or have gotten new colors. And everything seems smaller. The house seems smaller, my room seems smaller, the cars, my closet, my piano, my bed! If I stand at the top of the stairs and look at people in the hall, they seem like giants, walking around in a doll house.

And I have to stay busy all the time so that I don't think to much about Maine, because I miss it so much. I'm trying to create the illusion of being home.
I brought Puffs Plus and Poland Spring with me from Boston. I repainted my toenails, they're now all blue again. I'm watching The Big Bang Theory. I'm wearing my Red Sox PJ's and playing Star Wars on the piano.
My room is a mess. I have two suitcases, a half open box of stuff, toilet bags and clothes everywhere. I started taking some of my clothes out of my closet, but it became to overwhelming and I stopped. It may all have to wait a few days.

I miss my big bed, I miss Monkey, I miss a tuned piano and listening to radio while I do the dishes. I miss being buried in pillows, playing with Lego's and walking around Bath. I miss fried rice ''Eosco style'', Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream at night, and homemade Seltzer water. I miss Christmas lights in the kitchen. But most of all I miss my home and my friends and family.

I miss the people who made this year the best, you are all the best.

My fellow shipbuilders who have been kind to me since day one at the school. Coming over and talking, asking about me and Denmark. Making me feel welcome at the school. I'm proud to call myself a Shipbuilder, Class of 2012.

My softball teammates, who taught how to play an awesome sport. Who let me be a part of their team and made sure I had fun, even if we lost a game. Remember girls - Somewhere in the world!

Syd, Nicole, Leia, Lauren, Bri, Courtney, Max 1, Max 2, Brian, Hannah, Lauren, Jeff, Hannah, Alesha, Morgan, Em, Micaila, Mia, Kita, Kai, Sadie, Crystal, Alice, Sadia. I just had to mention you all. (Sorry if I forgot someone.)
-Dana and Monica who never failed to amaze me with their beautiful voices.
-Dori, my American baby, the first person who talked to me at Morse.
-Zoo, my best Italian-Chinese friend. Where's your giraffe girl?
-Gaga, my favorite American grandmother. You've been great, and I miss you very much.

Kathleen and Derek, who helped me out when I really needed it. Who kept me laughing and playing piano when I was down. Who showed me that America was great, even when I doubted it. You guys are family. Wonderful, kind and generous people. I love you so much.

My family. Whom I can't explain how much I love. You took me in when I just wanted to leave it all and go back to Denmark. It definitely changed the moment I moved in with you.
-Gavin and Alden, who called me their sister, danced with me to Danish music and let me kiss and hug them as much as I did. I loved it when you chased me around the house, woke me up with a kiss in the morning and hid with me under tons of blanket. You boys will always be my favorite brothers.
-Dan, thank you for being my dad, thank you for introducing me as your daughter. For letting me laugh at your ''bullshit flag'' and joking with me when needed. Thanks for always looking out for me, making sure that I was feeling home, and that the boys were being good to me. And thanks for sleeping with Sato when I took over his bed. I love you Daddi-o.
-Mari. You are a sister, a mom, a best friend. I never dared to dream, that I would be lucky enough to get such a great relationship with my American mom as I did. You can always making me laugh at the little things, such as Middlefart, getting lost in Baltimore or being out of band aids. I meet new people, experienced non-profits and saw a hole new part of Americans because of you. You are supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. I love more than you know.

I feel so empty now with non of you around me, but trust me when I say that we will meet again, I am counting the hours for it to happen.
I miss you all, and love you all the way to Denmark.
Thank you for making 2011/2012 the best part if my life, and filling it with memories I will never forget.

Last three days in Maine

I have had the most fantastic last days in Maine! I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Saturday I went to Kathleen and Derek's. We played the piano and went out to lunch at Five Island. And then we just talked. And do what we always do. I had a really nice time.

At night Dan and Mari were having a lobster bake. It was us, my Danish parents, Leslie -who placed me with the Eosco's- and her daughter and sister. Kirsti also stopped by.
After dinner Mari took us downtown to watch the fireworks from the Kennebec Tavern. It was a very pretty show.

Sunday started with Danish children's music, and dancing with Alden and Gavin in the living room. Then we got ready and went downtown to the Fair. The boys pumped balloons, got swords and ran around playing while Dan, Mari and I had lunch. Then we took them to the Carnival under the bridge and we went on all the rides. It was a lot of fun, specially to see the boys having a good time.
They both fell asleep in the stroller on the way back and Dan, Mari and I got in the pool, cause after a day at the Carnival we were both hot and dirty.
Then we sat on the porch while the boys woke up and started playing around in the yard. -Yes, I got the difference between Garden and Yard now.
We had lobster rolls for dinner and the boys got a tub. Then I got to put them to bed one last time. Gavin went right down, but Alden didn't go that easy. So I ran up and down the stairs reading for Alden, eating ice cream, and watching Legally Blond with Dan and Mari. Both Mari and Dan had to go up with Alden before he fell asleep, and then we all decided that it was bedtime.
I didn't fall asleep until 2.00 am and woke up at 7.00.

Today has been so hard. I cried when I woke up, when Mari came down, when the boys came down, when Dan came down. I got the very last packing done, and then we all got ready and walked downtown. First we went to see Dan's house, and how the renovation was going, it looks great! Then we went to the coffee shop and got cookies for the boys and drinks for the rest of us. We went and got Thai food for lunch which we brought back home.
At one it was time to take the final goodbye, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done.
It took a lot of tissues, hugs, I'll Miss You and I Love You's. When we finally got in the car they all waved at me on the porch and Alden followed us a little down the street.

Now I'm sitting in a hotel room in Boston, trying to create the illusion of being home in Bath with Puff Plus', Blue Nail polish, pictures of my lovely family, while watching the City Council Meeting of the night.

And I have to stop writing now, cause it's hard to see what I'm writing through tears.
I'll write a final post ones I get home. Until then, I just wanna say that this has been the best year of my live and I love my family and friends in Maine very very much! I miss you all already!

5 Days

5 days...that's all I have left. 5 days!
It's horrible, I'm gonna miss Maine so much!

I'm gonna miss being woken up with a wet kiss from my brothers, or playing the piano and being accomplished by the laughing and screaming from the tub upstairs.
I'm gonna miss being introduced as their daughter by Dan and Mari when I meet new people. I'm gonna miss dancing around in the kitchen with Gavin and playing catch with Alden around the house.
I'm gonna miss being welcomed home from school with a bark from Sato, or a 'IDAAA!' from Alden.
I'm gonna miss getting asked to say something in Danish and being laughed at when I can't speak English. I'm gonna miss playing piano in West Bath, and going out for sushi, just because it's been a while.
I'm gonna miss playing softball with my girls and do the lawn mower or the shopping cart with the choir. I'm gonna miss not having to take any tests because I'm an exchange student, or discussing the world with Mr. Madden.
I'm gonna miss raising my hand when Dan makes stuff up or laughing really hard about something crazy with Mari.

I'm gonna miss Dot's and Reny's and Café Créme, and Brunswick and Portland and Freeport.
I'm gonna miss High Street and Front Street and Washington Street, I'm gonna miss 1016 and 826.
I'm gonna miss The Big Bang Theory and Ellen and Despicable Me - Cause they will never be the same in Denmark.
I will miss all my friends, my teammates, my classmates, my fellow Shipbuilders.
I'll miss Sato, Cayenne and the wonderful Dudzics.
I'll miss my amazing parents and adorable my brothers.

And I'll miss telling them all, how much I love them!

Bucket List

So the countdown have begun, all though I am not happy about it at all!
But there's not much to do about it, so I'm trying to make the best out of it! With that said I'm all of the sudden very busy. Last week I did something every night.
Sunday I went to Max's goodbye party.
Monday I went with Brianna, Brian, Max, Tia, Leigh and Zach to play Laser-tag.
Tuesday I went and had dinner with Kathleen and Derek.
Wednesday, Mari and I went to the MSMT and saw A Chorus Line.
Thursday I went to Zoo's house and had dinner with her and Alice. I spend the night there, and the next day we packed all of her stuff down. She left Saturday, Max left Friday.
It's been great, but I find that there's still so much I have to do, and not enough time.

Mari and I have been working on my bucket-list.Here's what we've crossed of so far:

Tootise Pop
Trolley Ride
Fat Boys - A restaurant where you eat in your car.
Burger King
Frostie's Donuts
Roof of City Hall
Red Sox T-Shirt
New Ipod

I have slowly started packing, I sent all of my winter clothes home, and I'm hoping to have my room almost empty by Tuesday, so that I can start cleaning...
And Thursday there's New York! So at least there's something to look forward to.

Fireflies and Strawberries

Today was a very exciting day! Mari, Gavin and I started with going to Brunswick. We went to the Natural Food Store, we went to Play It Again Store, we went to Cool As A Moose - I bought a PJ and a shirt - we went to Frostie's - A donut store, that has the best donut! Plus it was on my bucket-list, so now I can cross that of - and Gavin and I had a donut each. Yummy!

Then we went to Little Tokyo's and picked up some sushi for lunch, and picked up Alden. Dan came home for lunch, I took a nap, Mari took the boys to the library, and Kathleen picked me up.

On this lovely night we had Shepard's Pie for dinner, and Strawberry Cake for dessert, and it was all very yummy.
When she drove me home we saw a bunch of Fireflies in the woods. - My first time! - and it was amazing. They were just like little lights turning on for a second , it was very beautiful!
