I'm back baby! And I had an amazing trip, so much fun!
We left Saturday by noon, Kirsti and Niesa drove us to the airport, but when we got there, our plane was cancelled. But we got rebooked, and four hours later we were on our way. We got to the hotel by ten pm, and went straight to sleep.
Sunday morning we slept in -til 7.30- and then went to the gym. We got ready an headed out. There's an old Power Plant building in Baltimore, that they're redesigned into a Barnes and Noble -a book store-, and it was pretty cool. -A hell to go into when you can't by any books, and it's not because you don't have any money to spend, but because you can't bring 200 pounds of books back with you on the plane.- But it was beautiful building, and I can now add about 100 book to my To-Read-List.
We got some lunch down by the Harbor, and then we bought tickets to go see a submarine and The Constitution, which is a beautiful, old ship.
Then we went back to the hotel. Mari took a nap, I watched Friends, and it was time to get to the convention, which Sunday night was a gathering, with food and drinks. The head of Maine Main Street had arranged for everyone from Maine to meet and go out to dinner, and so we did.
Monday we got up at 6.30, cause the convention rehearsal started at 7.45, and we had to be there. We practiced, the Bath people dragged me with them on stage when they got their award, cause Mari kept saying that I had done volunteer work for them, by watching the boys whenever they had a meeting. It was fun, the hole thing lasted about two hours, and was all about Downtowns around America, and how to improve it.
After that Mari and I walked around the harbor for a bit. I got about 20 huge blisters on my food, so we sat down, and because we were out of bandages, we covered them in Bath stickers, it worked quite well. Then we went to the National Aquarium. It was huge. We saw a 4D movie and a Dolphin show, and of cause all the fish they had, as well as birds, frogs, snakes ect. It was very impressive. When we got out three hours later we were both very tired, so we arranged dinner the American way. Frozen dinners in the the microwave, and ice cream for dessert, I felt so healthy, living it up in Baltimore. We spend our entire night in PJ's watching movies.
Tuesday was probably my favorite. We went to DC. Took the train there, it took about en hour. From the train station in DC we could see the Capitol, so we walked over there, took a bunch of pictures and then walked towards the Lincoln Memorial. That took almost two hours, there's over a mile between them.
On the way we saw the National Mall - Under construction -, the reflecting pool - Under construction -, The World War II Memorial, The Vietnam War Memorial, the Korean War Memorial, and a ton of amazing buildings. The weather was gorgeous, and I got a sunburn on my chest, except for where my necklace had been hanging all that, that's still all white. Quite decorative.
The Lincoln Memorial was way cool, and after seeing Lincoln we walked around it to find Maine. -All the states are named on the top of the building.
Then we started walking back, and on the way we went into the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, and the Smithsonian Museum of Art. The first one was packed with people, so we didn't stay for long, but in the second one we could actually move our arms, and we walked around in there for quite a bit. It was great.
By then we had walked about ten miles, and decided to get on the train an get back. We stopped in Baltimore to get some food, and then got back to the hotel.
Wednesday we didn't do anything at all, except got up and dressed and going to the airport. I bought a shirt that says Washington DC, we got some lunch and then got on our plane, and flew home to Maine.
