Danish Star American Style

Hmm...I don't really know where to start today, let's see...

Yesterday I got mail from home, which is always great! Socks, candy, letters and a present!

What also happened yesterday was that I baked Danish ryebread (Rugbrød). That was kind of a disaster -the process anyway- the bread ended up pretty good!

Today I went over at Kathleen and Dereks. We did Danish Christmas stars, with a little twist of America!

We started out as we do in Denmark...
But then Derek came home, and we took it to the next level!

See what I mean!? Americans right? -They're the best! -And craziest people I've ever had the pleasure to meet!

First Day of Thanksgiving Break!

I had a great start on my Thanksgiving break!

Got up this morning, took it easy. Got dressed, had some breakfast, then looked out the window and was blown away! IT WAS TOTALLY WHITE OUTSIDE! Still is!

Oh My Word! More snow??? It's on days like these that I wish EF had sent me to Tennessee or North Carolina, you know somewhere warmer!
Or not really, cause if I was down there I wouldn't have been able to do all the great things I did today!

First Mari and I got the boys ready, to head over to Gaga's. That was a lot of fun! I'll show you.

A tiny frog hat and way to big gloves! My boys are to cute!
Over at Gaga's house we started making stuffing for the turkey tomorrow, got a cup of tea, and I played a little piano. Then we went back home. I got the boys a sandwich each, and then Derek picked me up!

He was driving in his truck with the plov on front, which was very useful in this weather, specially when we got to their road!
Kathleen was in the middle of vacuuming when I got there, and finished while I had my first Pumpkin Muffin ever. It was really good! Then we started baking! Yep, you read just right! We baked today.
Pies! Two of them! An apple one and a Pumpkin one.  We're having them for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I'm so excited, I hope they'll taste good! Al though I'm pretty sure they will with Kathleen helping me, that simply can't go wrong, it's like when we play the piano!

Which we also did today, all of our duets, and we did a pretty good job! Until we skyped with my parents -cough cough- which was really awesome!

Then Kathleen and Derek drove me home, and after I had cooked a quick dinner, the babysitter went home, and with a blanket over Alden and with Gavin on my lap, we all snuggled up on the couch while watching Winnie the Pooh. When it was over, I took Gavin to bed, read him a couple of books, and when I came back down, Alden had fallen asleep to. So I carried him up to bed as well.

All the snow outside has made me in a Christmas mood, so now I'm listening to Christmas music while waiting for my amazing parents to come home! And for thanksgiving to arrive.
I am so excited!

Sushi and MoHiBa!

Awesome weekend - Just saying!

Yesterday I woke up around seven, which was awesome! -Keep in mind that I have two younger brothers!
Dan, Gavin and I went to pick up some kind of machine for chopping woods, and then we went over to Gaga. I stayed there for a little while, and then headed home, played a little piano, before Kathleen picked me up.
We were going to the movies to see 50/50, but....when we got there, they weren't showing it!

That was kind of a bummer, but we decided to go to Portland instead, for a little shopping. We went to the part of Portland that's called Old Port, which is so amazing! Little shops and beautiful buildings!
We looked at shops for a bit, and then went to a restaurant called Benkay for Sushi. Yummy!
After a quick stop at Standard Bakery -I think that was the name- we drove back home.

It was only the boys and the babysitter that was home, but that was okay, cause I had a skype-date with crazy Danish friends. It was so nice talking to them again!
When I was done Mari and Dan were both home, and we were all leaving. We were going to Amos and Monica's for an early dinner. It was very nice! We couldn't stay for long though, cause Mari and I were going to MoHiBa - Morse High Basset. It's a talent show that the school holds ever year.
It was fun to see, there were in particular three acts that I really liked. The Boys Soccer team who did a clapping-music-thing, and that was really fun. Then there was the faculty's act, which were showing them as old people at a nursery home. My favorite though was a band, that played a original song. A girl from some of my classes, who has the most beautiful voice, sang and then there was a bunch of very talented students playing the piano, the guitar, the sax, and the flute - it was really cool! And I loved the song!

Today I made ''Havregrynskugler'' -Danish chocolate/oatmeal/coconut-treats-, and then I went hiking with Mari and the boys, which was  very nice!

It was a pretty awesome weekend!

A Rainy Day

It rained today, but it didn't really matter, cause I had a lot of things to do!!

First Allary and Mara came buy and we played Skib-Bo for about two hours, it was a lot of fun! After that I wrote 4 letters for some of my friends back home, I wanted to write a lot more for a lot of people, but my hand hurt when I finished the 4th, so I thought that the rest would have to wait for a while...

The Joel came home, and he, Yulia and I went to the library and then to the candy-shop where I found DANISH CANDY!!!

When we came back home, I got the cake in the oven.
I didn't tell you about the cake yet, did I? Let me do that! Before I wrote the letters I made a dough for a ''Cakeman'', which is a Danish cake, usually for kids' birthdays. I promised Yulia I would bake one for her, since it's her birthday tomorrow!

After dinner, when the cake had cooled down, I made some icing and took out all of the candy!

Once I stopped eating the candy, I started decorating the cake with it, which was the actual idea...

I think the result was pretty good (or not), but I had so much fun doing it! I just hope that the cake taste good! -Though I doubt it, with all that poison-looking candy - hehe

A cake in Layers

Happy birthday Gayle!!
Today was my hostmoms birthday, so here's what I did today: Baked a Danish ''lagkage'' for her. It did not go the way i planned, and I did NOT like the result. But my American family seemed to, so that was really great! Gayle was real happy for my present, a very nice shower gel, and I sang her ''Happy birthday'' on Danish, which she thought was so much fun!
I also went, practically, all over town with Joel, and one of the things it resulted in, was unlimited texting for me! Yaay!
