Weekly Update

As my amazing life in America comes closer and closer to an end, I find it hard to take the time to update my blog, which I sincerely apologize for. I'll try to keep it going, but it may be shorter posts or weekly updates like this one.

This week has been quite busy if I may say so. Last day of school is on Tuesday and graduation is in a week, I can't believe where the time went, it feels like just yesterday that I started at Morse.
Tuesday afternoon I had my very last Softball practice, it was kind of sad. Coach Avery was back after being sick for a week. It was good to see him again.
Wednesday night there was the Senior concert at the High School. First the Morse Concert Band preformed and then the Chorus preformed. We sang five songs. Got To Get You Into My Life, All You Need Is Love, Into My Life, the boys sang Carry On, and we finished with He Ain't Heavy, where in the Seniors had the solo. Because it was the last concert of the year, and therefor the Senior one, J-Paq had arranged roses for all the Seniors and a little speech. We all got called forward on stage. It was very emotional.

Thursday was Senior skip day. That's a day where all the Seniors skips school. I went with some friends out and had Sushi and Ice Cream, and then I came home, made a cake and brought it to a Softball meeting. We were turning in out uniforms.
At night there was Academic awards night at the High School, each class gives out awards for outstanding achievement. I got two, one for Art II and one for Photo.

Friday Alden had a concert at his school, it was adorable.
That evening Dan went out, so Mari and I watched Forrest Gump and ate Ice Cream.

Today has been nice and quiet. We started with going to Bike Rodeo, and the boys got to see bikes, and firetrucks and police cars. Then we went home had lunch, I cleaned and packed all of my winter clothes down.
No really big plans for the weekend, but next week is last day of school, final assembly, marching practice, Senior dinners, Yearbook signing party, concert with Rockband, Alumni night dinner and graduation, so it's gonna be busy!

Enter The Haggis

Oh wonderful weekend, how busy you've been, and how fast you've pasted.

Every single game of ours last week was rained out, Friday we had an hour and a half of cardio and running inside, which was a lot of fun, but I was so soar afterwards. Hopefully it will show of when we get to bikini-season, which could be a while, looking back at Maine weather...

Saturday I could barely walk, something must have happened during our cardio practice, but my foot was swollen, and it hurt really bad. Needless to say I didn't do much. I read, did some homework, played a little piano. The boys were grumpy, they didn't fall asleep until 9.30 Friday night. Dan and Mari took them up around 7.30, gave up, came down, I went to bed, heard screaming went in there, it took me an hour to get them to lie down and be still for me to read for them. When they finally fell asleep I did to, and didn't wake up until 2.00 when I crawled into my own bed.

Anyway Saturday night Mari, Dan and I went to a with Enter The Haggis. It was a lot of fun, they were really good! Mari even bought a CD, which she and I  listened to on Sunday, when  we drove an hour and a half to go meet Nicki for the goodbye meeting.

After the meeting we went to David's bridal shop to look at prom dresses, it was hilarious. Seeing all the girls and women looking at dresses, trying on dresses, spinning around. Mari and I picked a few dresses that I tried on, but we were both just laughing so hard at every single one of them. Not because the dresses were funny -most of them anyway- but because the hole scenario was so funny. I didn't find a dress, we'll see what happens. It's hard to go look at one with the boys and everything. And I can't just go downtown to look for one, the only place they have them downtown is Bohemian Rose, and she's kinda expensive.
We'll see what I can find in two weeks, and maybe I'll just show up in Jeans and a hoodie? Or make a dress of of duck tape like all those crazy kids in the news.

Rainy Days

It was very wet at practice yesterday. It had been raining all of Tuesday, and we had practice inside, and only for en hour that day.
Yesterday day though, they decided that we could be outside, but it was cold, grey and wet. The infield was almost like mud, and the outfield was like a swamp. My shoes and sock were soaked after five minutes running around out there. The balls turned brown from rolling on the ground, so my hands and glove was dirty to. On the upside though, we got to do batting now that we were outside, and I think that was good. We were supposed to have three games this week, but Monday it got cancelled because the team we were gonna play didn't even exists, and Tuesday we got rained out, and the game haven't been rescheduled yet. Our game tomorrow is in Belfast, which is about an hour and a half away, which means I get out of school and hour early.
Hopefully that will go well.

Spring Break

So I realized that I haven't written in here for a hole week, if not longer, and I'm sorry about that, but I've been kept busy!

This week is my Spring Break, or were my Spring Break, cause by now it's almost over. But it's been great, and not to worry, I'll catch you up on it all!
Here goes.

I started my break by going to a boat show with the family. It was held at Brunswick Naval Air Base -or something like that- it was quite cool. We went into a bunch of boats, walked around a bunch of boats, touched a bunch of boats...you get the idea right? It was a boat show.
When we got home Kathleen and Derek picked me up and we went and got ice cream. Yummy! We hadn't seen each other for about three weeks, so there was some catching up to do. After Ice Cream we went to their house and after watching the Bruins loose and the Red Sox win, we had dinner - homemade burgers and improvisational apple pie- it was as always very good.

Sunday the boys went to church, and Dan, Mari and I sat outside enjoying the wonderful weather. We grilled for lunch and watched the boys play with the hose and running around in the garden. I then biked down to the grocery store -because I needed the exercise- and bought what ever we needed for the next day, because...

Monday we all -Dan, Mari, Alden, Gavin, Gaga, Buba, Kirsti, Zach and Me- went to Squirrel Island, to open up the cottage. It was yet another gorgeous day, so we took the boys to the beach where they played with the water and builded Sand Castles. We made lunch, and sat on the porch looking at the ocean. Then we went out to look for buoys and returned with 4 of them. And by then it was time to take the boat back to Boothbay.

Tuesday Mari took the boys, Timmy and Me to the Botanical Garden in Boothbay. It was beautiful, and the boys had a great time, playing in the Children's Garden, which again involved water. But again the weather was amazing - so hot, you would believe it. When I got to Softball practice that day we were all wearing shorts and tank tops, and coach Avery decided to skip cardio for the day, because we all were so hot, just from standing still. We kept running inside to drink water and put on more sunscreen.
At night Dori suggested that we went to see Titanic in 3D, so Maddi, Zhou, Dori and I headed to the movies, but when we got there, Dori realized that we had all seen Titanic already, so she suggested that we went to meet with some friends of here. They were having a bon fire at their private beach. It was so much fun.

Wednesday Mari and I decided to take it slow. She took the boys to Gaga's while I went downtown to the library. That was pretty much all we did for the day. And of cause I went to Softball practice.
When I came home the boys were -for the first time- sleeping in together in Alden's room, although they weren't much for sleeping, so after an hour of laughing and playing I went to them, lay down between them in Alden't king size bed, and read books for them until they were both asleep. Then I sneaked downstairs, and Mari, Dan and I watched Hugo -amazing movie, wonderful music!

Thursday Mari was sick, so the boys and I entertained each other, outside for as long time as possible.
Then I went to practice and Courtney and I had a lot of fun, with out weird ''softball connection''. We'd throw balls in the air, trying to send them to either 1st or 3rd, and they's meet in the middle. And once I got a rolling ball, and it was to far to the left for me to catch it, so I tried to stop it with my foot, and the ball flew and hit Courtney... Luckily she thought it was hilarious.
When I got home from practice, Dan and I went to do some stuff on the boat and just fool around for a bit, without kids. Mari were supposed to come with us, but since she was sick.

Friday morning we went to see the Morse Varsity softball game, just so I could see what was going on. It was fun to see all of my team mates playing. After that we had lunch and then went downtown to get ice cream, and meet with Dan.
On the way down there Gavin spots a sock on the road, and walks over to it.
Me: "No no, we don't pick up stuff on that we find on the ground.
Gavin: "No, that's cause it's yucky. We don't eat it, not for dinner."
And then he just walks on, like what he just said was the most natural in the world. It was very cute!
We returned home after looking at the park, and Derek picked me up. Kathleen and I watched the Red Sox Game, we all watched Top Gear, and then dinner was ready. We had a very nicely done steak, potatoes and biscuits and for desert -yes you guessed it- apple pie!  Yum Yum.

That leads us to today - Saturday. We don't really have any plans the same for tomorrow, but that works for me, cause I still have some homework to do, and I would love some time for playing piano.
And so far, it's been a great break!

Visiting the Capitol

Yesterday was fun! I skipped school to go see the Capitol with Mari, Gavin and Gaga. Bath Mainstreet was getting recognized for the award they won, during a Senate something. Which meant we got to meet a bunch of Senators, we got to see the Capitol from the inside. -For the Danes, "Capitol" means "Hovedstaden" and "Folketinget", and it was their form of "Folketing" that we went to see.

After we were done there, we went to a Thai place for dinner, and then headed for Sam's club, which Mari thought I should experience while being in America. It was crazy, and not necessarily in a good way. It was like a big warehouse where you would go pick something up, but instead it was actually the store, and everything was twice the size of what you would usually get it. It was definitely American!

When we returned home I went to practice. They had us running laps - as usually - then sprinting for a while, and then just running for five minutes straight. We did some throwing, catching and rolling , and then they had us set up for a game, so that they could figure out who should play where on the field. I was put on the Left, which is the outfield, and then - which you might have guessed - on the left side. It was fun, I'm understanding more and more with every practice.
Yesterday a ball came flying towards me, but it was to far to my left for me to get it, so I ran after it, but it rolled under the fence, so I almost crawled under the fence to get it, when everyone started yelling at me to raise my hand. I didn't understand any of it, but apparently, that's what you do, when the ball rolls under the fence.

Easter!

And so today was Easter. We started of with going to church. The boys were dropped of at Sunday school, which the rest of us listened about Jesus being betrayed, and singing songs accomplished by flutes, trumpets and the organ.
Afterward the church had arranged an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, so Gavin and Alden each got a basket and headed out on their search. They were all over the place. When they had found ever single egg in every bush, we went to Gaga's house, where she had planned an Egg Hunt, this one for all of us. We found Peanut Butter Cups, Peppermint Patties, Snickers, and little eggs filled with either Jelly Beans or quarters. Specially Alden was very into it, and kept searching even after we were all sure that we had found everything.

Then we went home, cause we were having lunch at our house. Ham with potatoes, brussel sprouts and asparagus. It was good. And we had ice cream for dessert, with Kirti's homemade chocolate sauce. Very Nice.

There not much else to tell. It's been a quiet weekend, one more week of school before Spring Break. Next Tuesday Mari, Gaga, Gavin and I are going to the State Senate - I think -, I have my first softball game - I think -, and besides that we'll see what's going to happen. As you might have guessed, I'm not really sure about anything, I'll take it as it comes, but I'm definitely looking forward to Spring Break, and speaking about the Softball Game, they probably should put me on the field right away.
The other day at practice we were playing with live pitching and I hit the ball, and it went pretty far, and I was so excited just to hit it, that I forgot what to do next, so everyone on my team started screaming "run!!", which I did, and I got to 1st base without problems, but it was close. Another the coach was trying to explain to me when to run and when to stay, but when they finally hit the ball, I just went for it, and someone yelled something that I didn't hear, so when I got to 2nd, I looked around, and asked if I was out. I was NOT! It was a lot of fun!

Just Before Baltimore

One more day! Tomorrow it's happening! Mari and I are leaving for Baltimore!
I have to start packing...? Oh well, I'll get there...

Wednesday I didn't have practice, because it was the All Choral Night in the RSU1 district, which is the school district that Morse belongs to. That of cause meant that we had to sing, and that's with all the other kids in the entire RSU1. Kindergardeners, 1st graders, 2nd grader all the way up to us - the Seniors.
We sang Love Is All You Need and Got To Get You Into My Life, both by the Beatles, alone, and then we sang the National Anthem and This Land Is Your Land every single student - nearly 300- together.

Last night I had practice, and fortunately it was inside. I'd say that I'm getting better, getting a hold on catching the ball, and getting better at throwing it further. The team is very nice, and our coaches are great, I'm having a lot of fun with it!

When I left the house this morning is was 31 degrees, so even the coaches, last night, told us that practice today was gonna be outside, I hope they changed it, cause I'd really prefer to be inside.

Softball and A Snowstorm

Just a week ago it was over 80 degrees out, I was wearing a pair of shorts and a tank top, and the boys were playing with water outside. We had the parasol up and were outside playing until seven, and the only reason we went inside was, that it was the boys' bedtime. It was great!
Today....well....I woke up, rolled up my curtains, and it's all white out. My friends response to this "WELCOME TO MAINE!"

Monday were try outs for softball. It was -100 degrees (approximately) and it was blowing half a pelican, it was freezing! People showed up in shorts and t-shirts, so who ever had an extra jacket or hoodie had to hand it over, so we all could at least try to sty warm. We did some running and catching and throwing, but out hands were so cold we could really do anything, cause the ball just fell out of our gloves. So the coaches let us go early.

Yesterday, they moved practice inside -thank god-, so it wasn't until 7. Again we did some running, catching, throwing, and then they split us up in three groups. Varsity -which are the more advanced players-, Freshmen, and the rest. They send Varsity in the field, Freshmen in the back to hit the "T's", and the rest of us got to do live batting. It was a lot of fun. I kept telling people to hit before me, so I could see what they were doing, but of cause that couldn't go on forever, so I finally got a helmet on, and Morgan handed me a bat. The coach stepped over to me, gave me instructions on how to bat, and they the pitcher threw a ball at me. The first one I missed, but the second one went all to the other end of the room! I don't think anyone was expecting that - I definitely wasn't-, and they were all just kinda staring at the ball. I did that a couple of times, and the other girls started cheering for me, it was pretty cool!
