Star-Spangled Necklace

Yesterday we had a game in Belfast. It's about an hour and a half away. So we got excused at 1.15 to go change to our uniforms and get on the bus. Maybe I should tell you how we usually do this before a game.
On days when we have a game, we either decide -among the team- if we're gonna dress up, or wear our jerseys -the top of out uniforms- to school. Yesterday we had decided to dress up, that means that everyone on the team wear something nice to school. Make a little extra out of it.
Then, depending on what time the bus leaves, we get excused from 4th period to get our gear, and go change in the locker room. We wear blue shorts and a white jersey that says Morse in the front, and our number in the back. I play number 2.
After we get changed we bring our back out to the parking lot of the school, where the baseball boys are waiting. It's planned so that we always have games the same place, so that we can share the bus. When coach Avery arrives in his truck, we go get all the gear -balls, bats, helmets- and bring them to the bus, and we all head out to where ever we are supposed to play our game.

So yesterday it was in Belfast. I've been sick over the weekend, and going to practice on Monday didn't exactly help, so I slept on the bus most of the way. When I woke up everybody were getting excited about the game, and we were all laughing and having a good time.
We got there, warmed up, did soft toss, long toss, and so on. Coach Avery and Cram told us who were playing which positions, and what the batting order was. I was -as usually- playing left field, and was batting 5th.
The first inning wasn't the best, they got six or seven runs, because our pitcher was having a hard time, and we stroke out on the batting, so they had a big lead. Inning two was a little better, and in inning three we really got in the game. I hit the ball, and it went pretty far, I got on base, and two girls made in home.
After third inning we were doing great. We got them out fast, we hit great. In the 6th inning we got them out in just four balls.
Everybody was cheering for our team, laughing, joking around, and playing great.
We won 18-9!
After every game we choose two girls, as most important players of the game, and each girl gets a necklace, it's not specially pretty, big and clumsy I would say, but they have to wear it the next day, to show that they are chosen, and the idea is, that if they're wearing a big, ugly necklace, people will ask about it, and they have to tell.
Yesterday I was chosen as one of the Most Important Players of the Game. I got a big peace sign, with the American flag on it. It might be ugly, but I don't really care. I can't believe they chose me, I was so happy. So today I'm wearing my star-spangled necklace to school, being proud, loving my American life!
